Power Nap

For those of you who work in NYC, and need some midday shut eye, I have news for you. If you haven't already heard, Yelo offers soothing soundproof "YeloCab" rooms for catnaps in comfy, "zero-gravity" lounges with aroma therapy, a cashmere blanket, and a slumber inducing soundtrack. You even get a light induced sunrise that will gently awake you when your time is up. Rates start at $15 for a 20 minute nap; $40 if you add a 10 minute massage or reflexology session.

Yelo is also the first US company to import - from Austria - the Alpha Lounger, a lounge chair which emits blue light and tonal vibrations. It's meant to induce alpha dream sleep-the one right before waking. The goal is to reduce stress, enhance creativity and recharge, but you can walk out feeling a tad disoriented. For some people, it may be better for the end of the day.

Cars or Cribs?

This question was asked by my homeboy to the ladies on his email list. The replies were funny as hell, especially their reasons behind their opinions. I'm sure you all will recognize my reply out of the bunch...it looks like something that only a writer/blogger would write, lol!

Having a detailed discussion with my ppls .. This is to my ladies friends ..

Question ..
What do you prefer for a dude to have , a car or place of his own !?
Please don't say both , one or the other & why if possible ..

I'm over here going in on my mans who drives a nice car for chicks but can't
have company at home with mommy , OMG! LMAO!

Thanks

REPLIES:

LMAO!

1. Def the crib we can't stay in a car all the damn time

2. What up ___,I just got out of class so sorry for the delayed response.
Bayyyyyyybeeee please have your own apartment. I do not want to sit up in the
living room w/ mommy & em'. If you are a grown a$$ man please have your own
apartment, house, etc. A car would be nice but privacy is much better!!!!Hell I
can take the A train or a cab to his crib Lol

3. His own place def....... No grown ass woman wants 2 be in a niggers have 2 sneak
and fuck like the 14 years old. Ill rather take the subway to his house. No
grown Sent from my Blackberry Wireless Nextel

4. Either 1 of those missin, it aint gonna happen!!

5. Car. I have my own place...

6. Ummmmm a crib please & thank you

7. A House... A man over 30 should have his own place!!! Now I can give a break to
a dude that fell on hard times and has to move in with mom's. But after 6
months to a year he needs to be OUT....

8. His own place! Too old 2 be dealing with a dude living w/mommy.

9. His Own place b/c we can take the train or I can drive my car. Lol
Mamas boys & womanizers have those qualities not real men

10. Place of his own!! My crib is the batcave, niggas can't come here (hands all in
his pants- feet all on my table) lmfao. Fuck that I don't care where you live
I'll fly cross seas if that weewee right but you can't come here maybe if I
blindfold you lolololol

11. Omg I so rather the apartment a car is nice n all but wen u can't come home
after 10 because ur moms is sleep then we gotta problem

12. His own place

13. I say car nevermind a crib... I got my own shit! ;)

14. Definitely a dude with his own place. I aint too good for a metrocard!

15. His own damn place. What the fuck who wants to be a roomie with your mother?

16. A crib because even tho' the car mayb nice & convenient...The MTA & TLC runs 24
hrs...lol How about privacy...??? You think mama wanna see the last night's
catch (fish)...Just a thought...

17. Hey ___ he needs his own place!! We can take cabs anywhere!! Lol

18. I'd rather smash a guy with a car. Just bc they have a car doesnt mean its for
chicks. It just means that they are tired of relying on the MTA or a chick to
drive them where they need & want to go. What female doesnt want a guy to be
able to come pick her up...especially if she drives? Geesh! Who said I wanna
drive all the time? Especially of you're in another borough, etc...so now we
have to meet up ALL the time at places that really arent convenient.. And, oh
yeah, did I mention that I'll NEVER get that chivalrous feeling of the phone
call saying that "I'm outside", and can ride passenger once in a while? That
sure ass hell is a good feeling, that I'm sure that all the dudes w/o cars can
relate to, lol. I cant deal with a guy without his own form of transportation.
Its just gross... Metro cards are for middle school/high school kids in nyc.

Not every guy that doesnt have a car necessarily lives w mommy. Personally, I
could care less about a guy's living situation. Just be able to go outside, get
in your car & (if you've been a good boy) head to my place. If we're just
fucking/messing around, then I dont mind going half on a telly. Shit, better
than fucking at my place. Let's see... $40 on a telly, or constant Metro Cards,
cabs, donations of gas money to MY tank bc I had to pick your non driving ass
up. Or if we're not fucking, us both driving & meeting up to go to dinner,
movies is perfect bc it leaves the freedom for one of us to leave if we aren't
feeling it, and it also leaves room for us both to have options after the date
is over. And if he is living w mommy, that's his issue, not mine. I aint fucking
ole girl, I'm fucking him. So be ready to go outside & start that engine when I
want some. The best part about it, is that I can send you home to mommy after I
nut(or baby momma, bro, roomie, whoever) and not have to worry about getting up
@ odd hrs of the night to drop you off at the train or even worse, take you all
the way to your place. And just in case you're gonna say "well what about
staying at dudes place"... Just not my cup of tea. Plus, I STILL HAVE TO DRIVE
THERE..Or what, are you gonna send your "O.J" cab to come & get me & take me to
your place? Forget about it....Lol

19. a car... come ova 4 a few hrs & afta that i don't care where he sleepz
long as he kno it aint in mah bed!

20. His own place! Don't wanna tip-toe out...or be quiet during sex. Wut if I wanna
walk around nekkid...cmon. Ugh screw a car...we can cab it....or train...I'm not
to good 4 the subway! We r in nyc

21. Place of his own because that represents a stable foundation.

22. A car don't mean shit if u driving to a shack or home to mommy.

23. A place of his own......its 2009 time to leave the nest. Its nice to go to his
house and relax instead of mine all the time

24. Lmao keep going in on him..cause his ass should have his own place...hands
down...

25. Lmao.. You aint no good, leave ya friend alone.

But in all honesty his own place, when kept in proper condition is a lil easier.
Car, you can get picked up and dropped off but that's about it. Not the saving
grace of Mom walkin while her son on top or you on top of him. So own place is a
lot more realistic by a certain age.

26. Hands down his own place... A car don't mean shit to me u can always take a cab
or the train which is kind of romantic at times hense tryna go to the telly and
u tired as hell and check out is at 11... COME ON! That's not wus up! Lol

27. I would prefer him havin his own place! We can always use my car or public
transportation to get around! Havin a car is so overrated! Lol @ no company @
mommies house! OMG!

28. Hell nah own apartment/home bump that you can rent a car, take a cab or swipe
metro cards together. You can rent an apartment and no grown independent women
is going to no damn short-stay in 09. Only hotels are on vacation or weekend
getaways. Is he SERIOUS??

29. That car note is a rent pymt.

30. OMG def a place of his own.....what type of backwards ass nigga gets a nice whip
b4 he gets a nice crib? He need 2 get his priorities in order A. S. A. P. !!!
LMAOOOO

31. No car, great career, home/apt, whatever he prefers, goals works best for me...
We can take cabs if need be. A car is not security. A home is

32. Home. There's nothing like having your own place. Privacy is a must on every
level. Surely its much more important then a car. Hell MTA or cab service won't
hurt for a couple of months.

33. A CRIB. Duh!!!! U cannot take off ur shoes & lay up in ur mans car. U can't cook
for him in his car. U can't do any of the domestic things we females like 2 do
in ur CAR!

34. His own crib. What's sexy about a grown ass man w a dope ride pullin up to his
mama garage. Or worse projects. Gawd forbid

35. An apt. Definitely. A chicj should have her own shit if she likes to ride.

36. I'd rather him have a place of his own, no fun if u can't spend the night. And
don't have to worry bout momma comin in talking bout "son its time for your
company to head home". LOL sound like momma got u on a curfew!

37. I think his own place cuz we can take a cab or a nice train ride, but going 2
hotels or coming 2 MY place all the time isn't the move!!

38. I would rather my man have his own place .. We can be comfortable there watch
movies and chill .. Maybe because I gotta car but I would still prefer my man to
have his own place

39. Wait did u say can't have company ? Lmaoooo is he 16 or sumthing. Smh !!!
Definatley own place !!!

40. I prefer a man to have his own space. Its more personal and free. To visit a man
who lives with family or friends is uncomfortable unless you guys are just cool.
Intimately its better to have his own.

Besides I can always take a cab!

;o)

41. Lmao, u gotta b kid n me. I rather him have a crib. Shows he responsible, he got
his own, lol.

42. A place of his own of course. We can always hop in my ride or catch a cab. But
I'd rather have an option on whose bed I can lay in for the night (his or mine).

43. I rather him have his own place I agree we can't have privacy @ his momma's
house? Shit I have a car we good!! N I don't live with my mama!! Lol we r more
than good we greatttt!!! Lmmfao

44. Definitely his own crib!!

45. Car. I hate driving all the time. And I have my own place so as long as he's
driving here, I don't have to get up :)

46. I prefer for a dude to have his own place first! Cars are nice but if u got a
car and livin wit ya moms that's soooo not cute!! Place, then car!

47. A place of his own. I have a car. We can work that out!

48. Own place !!!!!

49. Fuck a car I can take a cab to ya crib as long as u got ya own crib. I don't
want ya moms knockin on ya door while we knockin da boots !

50. A home where we chillin @ his car?! Lmao

51. Lmfao!!!! Home/apt/room/basement apt. E. All of the above.

52. You can fuck inda car but then what??? Lol. Smh.

53. HIS OWN PLACE!!!!!!!

54. A nice place of his own... Shit I drive so we good.

55. A place of his own... Wtf he can't wash hus ass in his car or cook a meal...
WORD!!!

56. Own place. I like privacy. I can drive to him

57. His own crib!

And the WORST dye job of 2009 so far goes to...

OMG, a fellow blogger friend of mine bought this to my attention & I just had to keep it going. WHY? Oh WHY?? She just looked so FAB in the latest KING magazine....

so again, WHY??

Was it a suggestion from your new boyfriend The Dream? There's no highlights, no low lights, no lustre, no compliments to her skin tone...just a typical Washington Heights bleach job (and no offense to people from or living there, but I'm sure ypu guys have seen what some of the salons in that area can do). Maybe if she didn't have the glasses and Tina Knowles red lipstick?

This is definitely not the way to promote the album, Christina.

Starbucks is recession friendly...YAY!!!

Me and a friend of mine were just joking at the fact that Starbucks would never offer a combo like deal because that would be "below their standards", lol. Mind you, we were joking as we were sipping on our brewed at home coffee. I must admit, even in these hard economic times, I have cut my daily Grande Caramel Macchiato down to maybe 2 or 3 a week (no, I can't kick it cold turkey). Well, a week later after our conversation, lo and behold, Starbucks has released their new "All Day Pairings" menu, which include something to eat and drink for $3.95. The choices are as follows:

Tall Brewed Coffee (12 fl oz) plus your choice of:

New Artisan Bacon Sandwich
New Artisan Ham Sandwich
Reduced-Fat Turkey Bacon Sandwich
Sausage Sandwich

OR

Tall Caffè Latte (12 fl oz) plus your choice of:

Reduced-Fat Cinnamon Swirl Coffee Cake

Perfect Oatmeal

The Artisan Sandwiches are made with high-quality ingredients like Black Forest ham, Gouda cheese and hand-shaped artisan bread rolls.

I don't think that there is much room for substitution, but at least they're trying to give their loyal customers somewhat of a deal. Maybe if these pairings are successful, they will add more options to these choices.

Ryan Leslie

Gotta love this guy. I saw him at a showcase almost a year ago, and was counting down the days until his debut album came out. I just knew that it would soon follow his smash summer hit "Addiction" but due to industry politics, it was released this past February 10th. I think that he is so talented and if you ever get the chance, I suggest you go to You Tube and check out his channel. It shows his videos, but it also shows a lot of behind the scenes work of him in the studio, doing what he does best. I think he's a musical genius..he could have done basically anything he wanted (being a Harvard grad and all ), but he chose to follow his heart and do what he loves. That ALWAYS proves to be a better choice in life ;-)

If you do in fact wanna catch him live, he will be performing soon here in NY, where he says that he will debut new music as well as songs from the album that is currently in stores:

When: Wednesday, March 11th & Thursday, March 12th

Where: S.O.B's

204 Varick St @ West Houston

NY, NY

Time : 8:00 PM both nights

Cost: $20 per ticket

You can purchase tickets here: http://www.sobs.com/ or call (212) 243-4940

Really?!....

I'm sure you've all heard the latest in Kimora news today... That her divorce between her & Russell has finally became final. But it's whats in the divorce papers that had me saying, "Really?!" to myself. While his child support (20K per child, per month) payments don't bother me..because let's be real, that's not even putting a dent in Russy's pockets..the other stipulations did.

For one, she gets full custody. But when Russell does have visitation, he must be accomanied by a nanny as well as a security guard at ALL TIMES. Now I've looked at this as either he did something that we don't know about (there are those pesky "zesty Russy" rumors). Or, she feels as if her bratty kids are more of celebrities than we think and on top of that, Russell isn't a competent enough father so a nanny is a must. Honestly, do you really think that before this paperwork that you would really see Russell and those girls walking down the street in tow with a security guard? In fact, he's one of the most low - key moguls there are.

If that's not bad enough, he also must provide a new car, worth at least $60,000, for the children's use, until they turn 16. The car will be replaced every three years. Mind you, Ming is 9; Aoki is 6. Really, Kimora? Really ?!

It just seems so convenient that this happens right around the time that Kimora is pregnant with Djimon's baby. Oh, yeah, and being "kind of engaged" (those are words from HER mouth, lol). So, just a question... while society, nor I expect Djimon to support the ex's kids, what exactly does he bring to the table? What was the last movie he made or ad that he did? lol. What the hell, Russell is providing a damned CAR for the girls. So what, is Djimon nor Kimora going to use the car? And while we know that Djimon will support the child that he will have with Kimora, does that leave him immune to provide for Ming and Aoki, assuming that they're ALL living under the same roof?
I don't know. It's their life, their issue, but hey, it became public for us to speculate about. Her demands just seem a little weird to me, but the Associated Press is reporting that "both sides amicably agreed and are looking forward to moving on with their lives". Plus, Russsell doesn't seem like the type of guy to fight back on this, but I personally think that he should very much so have an issue with the nanny and security guard.
Anyway, I guess that's just a day of the "Life in the Fab Lane"....

Is THIS Front Page Worthy?

So as I go in the corner deli this morning, I notice that yet AGAIN, Rihanna is front page worthy. Of course, I buy the paper anyway ( I need my news and I've since stopped buying that OTHER NY paper), just to see if it's in fact cover worthy.IMO, it's really not. Just the usual pap-stalking of this poor girl, letting the public and I guess more importantly her fans/stans know her most recent whereabouts.

The actual story is about as long as this blog post, and has only one other "exclusive" pic that is basically the full body one tho the one on the cover. I'm guessing that she did in fact need to get out of the states yet again ( she's in Punta Mita, Mexico in a private villa for whoever's wondering), due to the media's insensitivity to her domestic dispute with her boyfriend. I would've left the states too after a picture that I thought would be kept in confidentiality was leaked worldwide (which again, that other trashy NY paper felt the need to "post" on their front page. ugh!) I have no comments on the actual situation... just that we're all human and more importantly, is that these things do & can happen.

I am happy to see that she is taking time out to enjoy the most important person in her life right now : Robyn Rihanna Fenty.
